Case Study: The Sinker
The landlord of a large west London building intended to undertake works including replacement of air-conditioning equipment. The original demand from the landlord to the tenants was in excess of £2 million to be put into a sinking fund. A consortium of tenants represented by our Managing Director, Paul Koopman, brought a high court case on various issues relating to this demand. The amount eventually determined to be paid was just over £400,000.
This has been as a landmark case for those challenging service charge demands.
